Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is laser scanning technology for surveying and mapping.  Airborne, mobile, and terrestrial platforms with LiDAR enable various geospatial applications.  

Airborne LiDAR is an outstanding tool for digital elevation models and three-dimensional "city spheres."  Mobile LiDAR is preferred for asset surveys along transportation corridors and in cities.  Terrestrial LiDAR is best suited for architectural and engineering surveys.
